Dontcha hate it when your cellphone runs out of battery, and your charger is miles away? Rather than deal with this massive disconnect from everything you know and love, just plug this little gizmo to your phone, and stick a AA battery inside. A single battery can provide up to 3 hours of talk time.
At $24.95, seems worth it.

Engineers at Toyota have come up with a camera that attaches to your steering wheel and watches your eyes. If you take your eyes away from the road, it’ll chime. If you continue to ignore safety, the brakes will start to be applied to slow you down.
The system will be offered in luxury Lexus models in Japan next spring.

A subsidiary of Philips has created a prototype of a “rollable display”. It’s a flexible monochrome (that’s black and white, people!) display that can be unrolled to 5 inches. It has a resolution of 320 x 240, and can only display two images per second, so video isn’t possible yet.
The first devices with this technology are still 2 years away. Can’t wait!

Philips Research has figured out a way to weave lights into fabric. They’re demonstrating this pillow with a sown-in display that can receive SMS messages and scroll them.
Imagine sleeping nice and comfy, when some jerk SMS’es you the entire text of War and Peace. I think the lights flashing through your tightly shut eyelids could cause some mental damage…

In South Africa, with the world’s highest per-capita rate of reported rapes (119 per 100,000 people, though unre), a female condom was invented that has barbs built into it that will hook onto the rapist during the initial penetration. It will cause incredible pain, and can only be removed by surgery. It is meant for women who frequently have to travel dangerous areas late at night, and would be used as a safeguard against rape.
Already, there is a lot of controversy over this device.

As the title says, this jacket can be pumped up by breathing into a tube. Your breath will act as an insulator and keep you nice and toasty. If you get too warm, you can vent air out of the jacket to cool you off.

This gadget will pick up the noise of a sniper rifle with a number of its mics, and triangulate the direction, elevation, and distance of the shot. They’re currently in testing in Iraq, being mounted on Hummers (armored I hope!).
